You may use the Linux Mint 9 Live-DVD with the contained Firefox.
If you can't make the applet run and really want to play, you can use the AppletViewer from the Oracle JDK and start it with the .htm file as argument. The applet should be stored at an offline location, if you use the AppletViewer.
An application version for command-line launch also exists and is more compatible.

This is a version of DarkwarTypesB with untextured 3D graphics. You must destroy red bombs with red bombs, green bombs with green bombs and blue bombs with blue bombs in this 2D space shooting game. This game is for one and two players. The game is won after 100 eliminations. The first player changes the position of his spacecraft with the cursor keys. If the game mode is the fly up mode, the key , is used to change between flying up and flying forward with the cursor keys. The output color of the gun is changed with RETURN, while DELETE or BACKSPACE is the shooting key. The key . activates and deactivates the camera moving mode. If you start the game in the standard mode with the other htm file, you can define aliases for the steering keys at the beginning. This can make sense for keyboard layouts different from the german keyboard layout. This htm file starts the game in a one player mode. It was added, because then the playing frame can be smaller.

This Applet version is compatible to JAVA 1.1.8, MSJVM (JView) and JAVA 1.8, because it uses a deprecated JAVA API.
